This complex project involved the partial demolition of an existing office building, conversion of a retained 9 storey north block and the construction of a new south block organised a central atrium and lift core.

An intricate facade made up of three colours of Flemish bond brickwork break up the massing of the new block, knitting the hotel in with the surrounding streetscape.

Detailed design to minimise the floor to floor heights and introduction of staggered levels between north and south blocks allowed us to gain two extra storeys of bedroom accommodation within the height of the previously existing building whilst avoiding any contravention of St Paul’s viewing height restrictions, whilst close work with the contractor enabled the building to be completed in two separate phases, allowing the opening of the hotel and early release of 120 rooms 9 months ahead of completion of the project.
